In a cool, sunny and beautiful morning in Scottsdale, AZ, we decided to take a short cross country trip, what better place to go will be than Sedona, AZ. I called a friend of mine which turns out to be my CFI if he wanted to join, he graciously agree.
We called the placed where I used to obtain flight training to reserve a nice and powerful Cessna 182S. This aircraft definitely provides more punch than a C172, and accuse has a more ample cockpit the trip is more enjoyable, I can depict the C182S as a truly Cross Country Machine.

Taking off and departing from Scottsdale, AZ, KADS was a breeze, not so many private jets this time, we flew through Cave Creek, AZ which has some nice houses and mountains start to rise.
Winds were calm, visibility unlimited, a very pleasant cross country.
in just 30 min we were able to see the red rock formations of Sedona, AZ, actually we could also see San Francisco Peaks in flagstaff, AZ. I would consider Sedona Airport KSEZ one of the most beautiful airports, the landscape creates a unique and exceptional view, the runway is located on top of a mesa creating a wonderful approach experience.
Before landing, we overlooked the city and some of the impressive canyons Sedona has to offer, the red rocks and colorful pines just blend in together in a way that no other place could replicate this scenery. Landing was a non event, wind were calm, we touched down just when the stall warning start to chime, everything just on the numbers.
The people at the terminal were extremely friendly, we even rented a car for $10 per hour, which allowed us to go and have a breakfast downtown, Some delicious huevos rancheros !
Sedona is definitely a great getaway from the city and a great destination to fly from everywhere in the US, astonishing views, great weather and great food, what else can beat that.
