Netflix Orders a 4K 'Planet Earth' Sequel to Air in 2019

Netflix has ordered up a Planet Earth sequel called Our Planet, arguably its most ambitious and beautiful project to date. The eight-part nature documentary comes from the same people behind the original 2006 BBC miniseries that captured our earth's most remote wildlife areas. Notably, the stunning scenery will be shot in 4K so it'll really feel like you're there.

"The 'Planet' projects have enjoyed great success on Netflix and have helped launch new technologies for viewing at home," said Netflix's VP of documentaries Lisa Nishimura in a release. "We think watchingOur Planet, fully on-demand in 4K, will be an unforgettable experience for our members.

You'll have plenty of time to buy a 4K television to see it in all of its glory, as Our Planet won't be released until 2019.
