Here's something you missed while dissecting every frame of the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens: A jet that looks like R2-D2 is a thing now. Amid today's hubbub from a galaxy far, far away, the Japanese airline ANA revealed a Boeing 787 Dreamliner painted to faithfully resemble the droid.
Just look at this thing:
And then try to tell me you'd ever settle for a non-R2-themed jet plane again. You might not have to! According to The Verge, the droid plane is going into service, and it's just a part of the airline's five-yearStar Wars project. So maybe we'll get to see 787s in dressed up as C-3PO, BB-8, or Admiral Akbar. (It's a flap!)
Of course, the Boeing 787 had its mechanical troubles out of the gate. We're hoping none of that finds its way into the stratospheric R2-D2.
